One True Love: Beauty tool

If you’ll remember, I’m participating in the One True Love monthly writing prompt. It’s tons of fun to read other blogger’s, YouTuber’s and Instagrammer’s One True Loves and I’ve learned a lot and tried some new things as a result. If you’d like to participate, simply write your post, share on Instagram or YouTube and be sure to include the #LSSOneTrueLove tag.

This month is Beauty Tools:

When I first thought about this, my knee-jerk reaction was to talk about my Beauty Blender. But then I thought, “Come on, Jenny. Everybody and their damn dog is going to talk about the Beauty Blender–because it’s the best beauty tool ever.” So, today I’m going to go a different direction. I’m going to talk about this:

1 Best Makeup Remover Magic Cloth Duo – Feels Luxury Soft, Works Like Magic –

I can attest to that–it does, in fact, work like magic. Sorcery, more like it.

So, in case you’re wondering what these towels are. They’re chemical-free makeup-removing towels. Here’s how they work (or, more accurately, how they’re used because hell if I know how they work):

I wet a small corner of the towel with warm water and wipe my eye makeup off with it. It gets all of my waterproof mascara and gel eyeliner off with nary a tug or a smear. Using only one corner at a time, I can use my towel about 3 or more times in between washes. When you’re out of clean towel to use, you simply throw it in the washer with mild detergent and wash it. Then you let it line dry (which is dries really quickly). Then, boom–it’s ready to go again. I figure that I’ve saved a lot of money already on disposable makeup removing towels and cleansers, just by using this towel.

Speaking of makeup removing towels and cleansers: I’ve used all of the traditional makeup removing creams, tonics and potions. They all leave my eyes red, irritated and seem to only actually remove like 30% of my makeup. I’ve never found anything that works as well as these towels. I take them with me on all overnight trips–they’re a cinch to pack–and love these things hard. Do yourself a favor and buy yourself one. Then give one to your mom, your sister and your best friend.

One True Love: Loungewear

(This post contains affiliate links that help to support the care and upkeep of this blog. Thanks!)

Loungewear and pajamas are my love language.

As I’ve probably told you before, as soon as I walk in the house, I go directly to my bedroom and change out of my “regular” clothes and put on my pajamas or loungewear. The older I get, the less I can tolerate being uncomfortable–especially not in my home–so loungewear is my favorite.

I picked up a pair of these loungewear pants one day during the Christmas season at Costco.

Felina Ladies’ Drawstring Lounge Pant–$18.00 on Amazon

Costco had them on sale for $9.99 (down from a regular price of $12.99). I took a chance–I mean, they were cheaper than the box of fruit snacks that I was buying–and threw them in my cart.

The particular day that I purchased them was cold and rainy. As soon as I got home and had unloaded my Costco haul in the cold rain, I wanted nothing more than to take off my jeans and sweater and slip on something warm and cozy. I decided to try out my new pants.

It was all over, folks.

These pants are the most comfortable pants I have put on my body in a long time.  They also wash well.  I was concerned that they’d shrink or pill, based on the material (they feel sort of cashmere sweater-ish) and the price point. After treating them with kid-gloves in the laundry the first few washes, now I throw them in with whatever and fry them in the dryer too. They’ve handled my abuse like a champ.

The next time I was at Costco, I purchased a second pair at full price ($12.99–gasp!) because I was having trouble dealing when the first pair was in the wash and I didn’t have a backup pair (#firstworldprobs).

These are the pants that I wore the most this winter. They’re my “wubbie”–my security blanket–the pants that I reach for as soon as I get home from somewhere; the pants that I put on when I’m feeling under the weather. Heck, I even wore them to the emergency room recently (no big deal. Just thyroid-related issues.).

As I was researching these pants for this post, I saw that Amazon also has a pair of the same brand pants in a style that looks a smidgen more “wear out of the house”-ish. These might be a good item for carpool, bus stop runs and even grocery store trips.

One True Love: Candles

(This post contains affiliate links that help to support the care and upkeep of this blog. Thanks!)

If you’ll remember, I’m participating in Megan and Wendy’s “One True Love” campaign this year where we feature a favorite item once a month. Last month’s item was my favorite jeans (link HERE). February’s installment is candles.

I need to start with a backstory. Many, many years ago, I used to be a candle fiend. I was obsessed with candles. And, I had expensive taste in candles. Don’t give me any of that Yankee Candle mess. I liked fancy, boutique-y candles in the most interesting scents on the planet. “Compost and Ylang Ylang?” Absolutely! “Diesel and Coriander?” Here’s my credit card. I was a candle snob for sure.

Then, I had kids.

One True Love: Current Favorite Jeans

I’m a big fan of Megan and Wendy’s Long Story Short YouTube channel (as well as their corresponding blog). so I decided to jump aboard their latest monthly blogging opportunity. I’m late posting this one, but look for my other posts to go live the second Thursday of each month.

This month’s One True Love is jeans. Now, I’ve talked about my love for Kut From The Kloth jeans HERE before and, believe me, those are still the jeans that I reach for over and over in my closet. However, just in the last couple of months or so, I purchased a new pair of jeans (that get a lot of buzz on the internet) and, I have to say, they’re contenders for my One True Love.

A.G. “The Legging”  Ankle Super Skinny jeans (not sure what my particular wash is called–it’s a dark blue)

Now, i’ve tried AG jeans on before and never felt too excited about them. So, I’m not sure what possessed me to purchase a pair recently. Perhaps it was the deep discount that Nordstrom was offering (I don’t remember what I paid for these–but I’m thinking it was right at $100, which, for AG jeans, is a great price) but also the rave reviews all over the internet about these jeans. Peer pressure much?

Oh, look! They come in white too! I love white jeans for spring and summer…

AG Adriano Goldschmied Women’s Legging Ankle Jeans, White

The things that I like the best about these jeans are the ankle length and the comfort. I guess I have shorter than average legs because almost all jeans are too long for me. I love an ankle length because you can wear them with any kind of shoes–booties, sandals or flats. And as for the comfort–I can wear these all day without wanting to pull my hair out. They don’t bind in the waist and they don’t stretch out in the bootie. I’m really pleased with these jeans and can safely say that i’m getting my money’s worth out of them.
